Horizon Camp Counselors:
Horizon Day Camp based in Baltimore, is seeking dedicated, motivated, energetic, and empathetic counselors for our 8 week summer day camp which exclusively serves children with cancer and their siblings. Our camp is 100% free to the families, transportation included. We currently service children throughout Maryland with bus stops throughout the region. We are overseen by a medical director and have on-site registered nurses, a fully equipped Wellness Center, and an on-call ambulance service. Everyday counts for these children and our goal is to create a fun, interactive, and engaged camp setting, all amid a safe, inclusive environment.
Camp dates are pending, with training starting at the end of June. Camp will end by mid-August. Camp location is to be determined.
Counselors may serve as:
General: Those who follow a pre-arranged program by the camp director
One-on-one: These counselors will assist children who need help throughout the camp day as they may need assistance, eating, walking or have some behavioral or other issue to which they cannot keep steady with their groups.
Bus: These counselors will ride the bus each day to and from the designated destinations for pick-up and drop-offs. They oversee the safety of campers, while creating a fun and welcoming environment. These counselors must be in attendance every day. Once at camp, they will be assigned as a general or one-one counselor.
Pre/Post: These counselors will be on-site for the early morning arrivals and stay after the camp day for our extended campers. During the camp day, they will serve as either a general or one-one counselor.
