HEAD COOK
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director or Food Services
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To work in harmony with the Food Services Coordinator, assuring the daily preparation of all meals and snacks in such a way that will make a positive contribution to the health and nutritional standards of Camp NEOSA.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To discuss with the Food Services Coordinator all plans for the preparation and serving of meals and snacks on the established menu.
- To make assignments to all other cooks, making certain that all work is spread out equally and assuring that all meals and snacks will be prepared on time and in accordance with health and nutritional requirements.
- To be responsible for the cleaning and care of the kitchen and all equipment, handing out assignments to other personnel.
- To support all established procedures for inventory control of all food products and supplies including maintain temperature logs and rotation of walk-in refrigerator and freezer.
- To plan all food preparation in such a way that proper portions will be served while attempting to prevent waste from over cooking.
- To maintain safe work habits in accordance with all government regulations and to make certain that horseplay and foolishness do not take place in any area of the food service operation.
- To assume responsibility for the proper storage and care of foods in the freezers, reach-ins, and walk-in refrigerator, making certain that all areas are kept clean and orderly.
- To order food, paper products and other items if requested by the Food Services Coordinator.
- Be a positive and productive member of the camp staff including social relationships and care of camp property.
- To assist and share in other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Camp Director or his representative including the cleaning up of camp at the end of the summer.
