GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
Be the primary health care manager for campers and staff, supervise health and cleanliness standards, and work as a team member with other key staff in the area of safety and health.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Upon arrival at Camp: Review camp’s medical standard operating procedures (SOP) manual.
Prepare and set up infirmary, inventory supplies, and obtain supplies as necessary. Maintain supplies as needed throughout camp season.
- Check and stock first aid kits throughout the camp
- Lead short presentation of medical related issues during staff training.
- Ensure each staff member and camper has on file a health history and examination form as required.
- Conduct health screening of arriving campers as outlined in standards of operating procedures.
- Establish and follow appropriate medical routines including record keeping for all dispensed medications, and maintaining a daily medical log.
- Coordinate coverage of the infirmary when not on duty.
- Work cooperatively with Executive Director and other key staff, including attending informal admin. Staff meetings at meal times.
- As necessary, call or meet with parents to discuss medical issues possible remedies.
- Post hours of daily medications and health calls.
- Make appointments with outside medical personnel as needed.
- Keep accident/incident reports as required.
- Monitor health of all campers and staff, including kitchen and cleaning staff.
- Monitor/evaluate camp procedures, facilities, and conditions and suggest modifications that would create more healthful conditions in the camp.
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.
