460- acres of ridges, valleys, ponds, streams and trails cover the property of YMCA Camp Mason. We are located in northwestern New Jersey just outside the 70,000-acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, one of the last true wilderness areas in the northeastern United States. This setting affords us almost limitless opportunities to engage in outdoor adventure and promote the values of environmental awareness.

Camp Mason is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and motivated Arts Counselor at our traditional YMCA summer camp. The Arts Counselor is primarily responsible for facilitating or supporting other staff in arts based activities for campers. Camp Mason offers a variety of art activities including but not limited to: Arts & Crafts, Painting, Drama, Dance, Photography, Choir, and Jewelry Making. The Arts Counselor reports to the Arts Coordinator.
 
 

Responsibilities:

§ Be a role model to campers and staff in both behavior and attitude

§ Develop hands-on activities and engaging destination walks related to the arts and self-expression

§ Plan and lead activities for groups of children between 7 and 16 years of age

§ Ensure that all campers experience progression and recognition in all art programs

§ Work with the Arts Coordinator to keep the Arts & Crafts Center presentable

§ Be able to make valuable contributions to the planning and execution of evening, weekend and theme activities

§ Anything else that needs to be done to keep Camp Mason safe, fun, and on the leading edge of the camping industry

Job Requirements
 Must demonstrate a strong passion for the arts and making a difference in the lives of children
 The ability to participate in the planning, execution and evaluation of programs
 Creativity and the ability to help other express their own creative energy
 Must have a strong interest and desire to help people learn of experience an art/craft as a form of expression
 A professional character that is consistent, capable, self-directed, well organized, flexible, personable, and is able to maintain composure in a changing environment
 Experience working with children and young people
 The ability to complete the full term of the position
