Dates: June 4th - August 15th, 2020.
As head of the arts and theater you will be expected to oversee, lead and supervise all staff within the arts and theater department. The activities within the arts dept are Music, Drama, Dance, Arts and Crafts, Ceramics, Woodshop, You will report directly to the activities director on a daily basis. Your primary role is to help and assist your arts team in providing age and ability appropriate lessons within their chosen activities while also providing a safe, secure and risk free environment for lessons to take place so that Cody's campers develop skills while having fun. Alongside this you will be required to engage your team to produce a Cody evening performance once a session. This will include auditions, rehearsals and production including constructing a set.
Salary: $350-$500 per week (Room & Board included)
Maintaining and risk assessing all activity areas in your department.
Managing and leading a group of 15 - 20 Counselors, assisting and overseeing lesson planning and areas.
Provide daily morning briefing on the arts department.
Managing and producing a performance once every session.
Provide support and advice in leading your team, monitoring and evaluation of staff and activities.
Helping with any development points and relaying feedback.
Conduct a regular check of equipment for safety, cleanliness and good repair.
Lead the team in the set up department activity areas during staff training.
Submit orders for supplies and equipment during staff week or when needed ensuring the timely arrival of materials.
Conduct an initial and end of the season inventory and store all equipment properly.
Evaluate current season and make recommendations for equipment or program changes for the next season.
Work as a member of a team of counselors who provide guidance and support to all campers.
Assist with all-camp events, evening programs and trips.
Other duties assigned by supervisors.
Physical Aspects of the Position:
Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.

Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
Some physical requirements of the head of arts position could be endurance including standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requirement for eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to make projects and assist campers. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/program. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering program in the art facility available.
