Job Description

Camp Winacka is a traditional rustic camp with spectacular views, pool, miles of hiking trails and lakes, where campers choose from programs focusing on aquatics, horses, arts and adventure. Campers and staff sleep in open-air cabins with built-in bunk beds, in platform tents with bunk beds, or on cots under the stars.

The Camp Operations Specialist assists with e-camp systems, delivers meals and equipment, and supports the camp director in all facets of the camp program.

  • Purchase camp supplies to include coordination of regular session shopping trips and place orders for supplies with approved vendors. Review and replenish all camp supply inventories.
  • Assist Photographer & Social Media Specialist as needed with daily camper blog; taking and uploading camper photos; printing parent e-mails and distributing; and overall management of e-camp software.
  • Assist with overall camp operations including leading camp activities; delivery of camp mail, materials, supplies and food to units and out-based camp activities; food service and cleaning; and delivery of luggage on change days.
  • Assist staff in moving from one assigned unit to another.
  • Responsible for inspection, repair and storage of camp equipment as needed.
  • Transport campers and staff as needed.
  • Assist in maintenance, program and other camp areas as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain clear and positive written and verbal communication with all internal and external clients.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training during the summer.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and precautions and comply with all council policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements
*Must be 21 years of age.
*Current First Aid/CPR certification.
*Submit health history record prior to first day of work.
*Ability to interact with all campers and staff.
*Valid drivers’ license, proof of insurance and access to reliable transportation. Daily and/or occasional travel may be required. Must be comfortable driving narrow, winding mountain roads with passengers in mini or cargo vans.
*Willingness to accept the beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout Movement and acceptance of the relevant and compelling benefits of Girl Scouting.

This seasonal position begins June 11, 2020 and ends August 15, 2020.
