Job Description

 

Responsible to: Program Director

JOB SUMMARY: Happy Hollow Summer Camp, which hosts 10 weeks of overnight camp for children ages 7-14, is seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and creative Digital Media Instructor to provide a safe and memorable experience for our campers. Our Digital Media Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading artistic and creative projects for cabin groups of campers during each week of camp. The ideal candidate should be an excellent multitasker with a genuine passion for working with and empowering young people.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Abide by all camp rules
  • Successfully complete pre-camp staff training
  • Develop rules for the Media center program for campers and staff to follow
  • Provide that each session be age appropriate, and that campers who finish projects early have alternative activities to work on
  • Teach staff their responsibilities in activities during staff training.
  • Plan projects which allow campers to use their creativity
  • Teach and monitor proper and safe use of equipment
  • Assist in coordinating media projects with special camp events & themes
  • Keep Media Center area and supplies neat and orderly
  • Inform the program director of needed supplies, preferably one week in advance
  • Prepare achievement recognition awards
  • Assist in organizing and conducting other camp activities
  • Assist with camper supervision in the cabin, at meals, bed time, on duty, and all-camp activities
  • Insure all equipment is properly inventoried, cleaned and stored at the end of camp
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

College student or at least 19 years of age
Documented experience in arts & crafts
Desire and ability to work with children outdoors
At least 1-2 years of youth leadership experience preferred
Ability to teach art skills to staff and campers
Ability to accept supervision and feedback
Good character, integrity, and ability to adapt to a camp setting
Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
Physical ability to participate in strenuous activities (hiking, swimming, climbing)
First Aid/CPR certification (camp will provide)
Ability to pass a background check
