Job Description
Job Summary: This seasonal full or part time position will work during the summer months. The Maintenance & Grounds Assistant assists in completing much needed tasks to keep camp running for our participants, such as light duty repairs to equipment and buildings, changing light bulbs, daily inspections in areas like the pool and bathrooms, general yard work and other projects for the enhancement of the property and facilities.

Principal Responsibilities
Be on time for scheduled shifts and in appropriate attire
Assist in maintenance of common areas, garages, retreat center, cabins, shower houses and bathrooms
Assist in grounds maintenance to include mowing, trimming and trash removal
Assist in light duty repairs and daily inspections
Ensure that all maintenance is done in accordance with all safety guidelines and to One Heartland Inc. standards and individual group’s needs
Complete tasks as assigned and in a timely manner
Be kind and courteous to all staff as well as to all participants, guests and groups; acts in a professional and friendly manner to ensure positive relations with participants, families, community, volunteers, visitors and staff
Other tasks as assigned and pitching in where needed without direct assignment
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Ideal Traits:
Compassionate and open-minded especially for the communities we serve at One Heartland
(LGBTQ+, HIV/AIDS, currently or formerly unhoused).
Experience with power and hand tools, equipment and machinery
Experience in, or desire to work in, facility maintenance
Self-motivated, able to work without direct supervision
Attention to detail and cleanliness
Ability to communicate and work well with others
Positive, outgoing, friendly demeanor
Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:
Often exposed to crowds and high noise levels
Must be able to move about camp indoors and out and work in outdoor weather conditions
Able to work for extended periods of time while standing, sitting, and kneeling/crouching
Able to lift and carry heavy objects
Able to operate and inspect vehicles, power tools, and machinery
Work with chemical cleaners and sanitizers
