Job Description
Are you looking for a way to blend your passion for adventure and the outdoors with planning and coordinating outdoor programs?   If so, join our team as the Outdoor Program Adventure Specialist!
The Adventure Specialist will coordinate and administer high ropes, low ropes, team building, target sports (archery, axes, slingshots), canoeing, backpacking, fishing and other outdoor programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver high-impact, outcomes-focused outdoor programs.
  • Coordinate on-call staff and volunteer facilitators for council programs ensuring regular training, observation, coaching, and development of staff.
  • Coordinate with customers (troops, service units, and outside groups) to ensure customer satisfaction by answering inquiries and scheduling sessions, including confirmations, reminders, and after-event follow-up.
  • Manage documentation and keep records of all program, staffing and equipment paperwork. 
  • Responsible for ensuring safe and organized use of program equipment and facilities, including regular inspections, maintenance, and inventories.
  • Maintain current training/certification in all programs. Serve as a facilitator for programs, as needed.
  • Facilitate ongoing evaluation and outcomes measurement for all programs.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships to ensure compliance with Girl Scout and Association of Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) safety guidelines and requirements.
  • Contribute to the diversity emphasis of the council by ensuring all materials, activities and programs are sensitive to and reflective of the interest, values and needs of persons of all racial/ethnic groups, cultures, religions and abilities.
  • Adhere to all council policies and procedures
  • Maintain clear and positive written and verbal communication with all internal and external clients.
  • Observe all safety precautions and comply with all organization health and safety rules and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
At least one year training, supervising, and evaluating staff.
At least one year experience working in youth-oriented programs.
At least one year experience with climbing, teambuilding, or challenge course oriented programs.
Current ACCT Level 1 and USA Archery Level 1 certifications preferred or ability to successfully complete certification trainings within the first year employed.
Ability to work night and weekend assignments, as needed.
Strong human relation, listening and problem solving skills.
Ability to organize work, handle multiple tasks, manage time, and meet deadlines.
Ability to maintain record keeping systems.
Working knowledge of basic computer programs.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a team setting with diverse persons.
Pleasant, positive and confident presentation of self and organization.
Excellent organizational abilities with attention to detail.
Incorporates understanding of child development and age appropriate behaviors.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work independently.
Valid drivers’ license, proof of insurance, and access to reliable transportation. Daily and/or occasional travel may be required.
