To direct and supervise the work of unit staff and support campers throughout their camp experience in accordance with standards set by Girl Scouts of the USA, the American Camp Association and the New York State Department of Health.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise unit staff – delegate jobs, create daily schedules including breaks and meals, supervise on and off camp activities.
• In consultation with the Program Coordinator, guide the lead counselors in implementing Girl Scout Heart of the Hudson, Inc. programs (Badges, Journeys, etc.) and assist in facilitation as needed.
• Assume responsibility for health and safety of staff and campers including but not limited to:
o Maintain a well-equipped first aid kit.
o Report accidents promptly.
o Keep nurse informed of health status of campers and unit staff
• Support staff in implementing camping activities, outdoor living, and increase understanding of children, camping and Girl Scout program, philosophy and objectives.
• Analyze and report to the Assistant Camp Director on activities and experiences of the campers based on reports by unit leaders and on individual observations.
• Supervise unit kapers, sanitation, care of supplies and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
