Counselors

Camp Farley Outdoor Education Center offers a co-ed, day and overnight camp program for youngsters 6 to 15 years of age. Located on one of Cape Cod's largest freshwater lakes, Camp Farley offers swimming, canoeing, kayaking, nature, STEM activities, barnyard animals, horseback riding, arts and crafts, theater, music, recreation, archery, non-competitive games, challenge initiatives, outdoor living skills, fishing, and a whole lot more. Camp Farley looks for enthusiastic staff to be role models and willing to share their skills and knowledge, show concern and dedication, and be productive members of a structured camp community.

PROGRAM DEPARTMENTS

Creative Arts: Traditional arts and crafts; Some informal theater activities 
Nature / Agriculture: Nature based activities; Barnyard Animals; Gardening; STEM Activities
Recreation / Outdoor Living Skills: Games, Low/high ropes & challenge initiatives; Archery 
Waterfront (Certified & Experienced): Swimming instruction, Free Swim, Games, Canoeing, Kayaking
Department Head: Must have prior work experience and leadership qualities in one of the four program departments listed above. Waterfront Head must possess relevant certification. Min. age of 21 preferred.

Program Counselors - Must have skills and/or interest in at least one of the four program departments listed above. Min. age is 18. Positions involving canoeing, kayaking, lifeguarding, ropes challenge course,and archery require specialized training, 

COMPENSATION

Competitive salaries are commensurate with position and experience. Staff are also provided with room, meals, and limited accident and sickness health coverage.

LIVING AND WORKING CONDITIONS 

Program counselors reside with campers during the week, with all campers leaving Friday evening of each week. Staff are off-duty from 8:30 PM Friday to 12:30 PM Sunday. In addition to a daily "period" off, staff have two evenings off, 9:00 PM to Midnight, during the week (Monday thru Thursday).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Licensed RN, LPN or especially trained in advanced first aid in the State of Massachusetts


• Current CPR and First Aid Certification


• Ability to walk and move about camp areas


• Ability to originate, update and monitor health care, and implement health care plan


• Ability to accept supervision and guidance


• Experience with children and young adults desirable


• Willingness to be on-call Sun. afternoon thru Fri. evening each week while camp is in session (with the exception of scheduled evening off each week offsite, and unscheduled time off onsite throughout the week


• Desire and ability to work and live within a camp community


• If a college student must be at least 21 years of age


• Must be available to live on camp in provided housing for the summer season. Our season is expected to run from 6/14-8/18. The work week is from Sunday at noon until Friday around 8 with one evening off a week. Staff may need medical assistance on weekends.


• Pay range $1,400-$1,800 weekly negotiable based on experience. This will be discussed with each candidate. Housing and meals provided for this position.
