The general counselor is the life-blood of camp. A general counselor has the greatest impact on working with campers.
They receive paid training during staff orientation and are supported by camp leadership (division heads, program director, social skills director, and the camp director) as they help exceptional young men enjoy a tremendous camp experience while learning key social skills. We are an all-male camp with a coed staff.
- In addition to scheduled evenings off, each general counselor has a 36 hour day off each week.
- General Counselors also go with their campers on weekly adventures out of camp, ranging from Hershey Park Amusement Park to the Baltimore Inner Harbor.
- General Counselors live in dorms (private or shared with one other staff member) and work with the age group of young men to whom they have been assigned.
- Campwide, the staffing ratio is 2 adults for every 5 youth and this allows for a great deal of support and reinforcement at all levels.
